Perhaps happiness is an OUTCOME of a life well-lived, and NOT A GOAL of life to be sought after, in and of insself. Also, happiness is quite transient, and those who seek it above all else seek that which is unstable.

Instead, I have come to pursue spiritual peace as a goal, and find that happiness occurs within that search, at different times, but never as a constant. I am finding that the peace I seek is found through pursuing and moving toward a more mature Christian walk. (Scripture instructs us to seek FIRST the Kingdom of God - not happiness.)

No way, baby. My comment was that I'm passionate ABOUT teaching the bible. I am sold out and committed to preaching what the bible teaches. Of course, I hope that I come across as passionate as well, but I'd rather be accurate and dull than passionate and wrong.

Nice post! Is passion always enough in teaching? I've seen passionate teachers that don't 'teach' worth a darn.

Amen. Sometimes ya gotta go through the tough stuff to get to the good stuff.

Mountain bikers hope that the uphill battle will reveal one heckuva ride on the other side. And so it is with those of us who are willing to endure a little pain and confusion, ask a million questions, come to a few conclusions, and finally end up trusting the One who knows us better than we know ourselves.

Hmmm. Good points, Kyle. And (at least for me) when I pursue that classic definition of happiness, the ". . . life well lived, a life of virtue and character, a life that manifests wisdom, kindness, and goodness," I find it intersects with our modern definition of happiness more often than not. Thanks.

I too will admit it was a little overwhelming. The only thing I can compare it to was my wedding day. In the sense that there were so many people to talk to, so little time, so much love and celebration to take in.

We, the Billings', appreciate everyone that helped and supported us that day. We are also very thankful for the continued support and help.

Thank you Athens Vineyard.

It's been a good two years. And silly me, I actually looked for you this past Sunday, then remembered. :) So it's Myrtle Grove UMC, if we're ever down Pensacola way? See you soon. :)

I know I will miss you Josh. We may not always agree on some things but I know you have a great heart and you love the Lord. Do not be sad to move. You are doing what you think is God's plan for you, just like I had to. It is tough on the church to see us go, but they love us and want us to flourish just like God does. Go and have fun at your school, and find joy in seeing your friends and family there!

I like your transplant analogy in the last paragraph! But a toenail? Why not an underarm hair? An index finger?
