Welcome to the Athens Vineyard Church website! We know many of the people that find their way to our church get their first “whiff” of the place using this website. We take that seriously! We are glad that you are here and we may not know you yet, but we hope you discover that you might just belong here. The Athens Vineyard began with a handful of people in 1999. We are joined together around a dream and a call to build a community of genuine people with Jesus Christ at the center.
Our desire is that we would be an authentic, Biblical community where people experience the life of God that he offers through Jesus.
We are all about fresh worship that is both genuine and full of truth. We aren’t trying to put on a show, but hoping to show God our love for him. When we sing to God, we believe he desires to move in our midst. We want worship at the Vineyard to be unique, from our hearts, original… you may sing a song in worship that was written by the person sitting next to you.
We are kid friendly because we value what kids are all about! Not only do we have people passionate about caring for our children, we have children learning to be passionate about their faith. We can learn a thing or two from the youth around us… innocence, exuberance, trust, faithfulness, compassion… if you have a kid, this is the place for you!
The door’s open to our church. Not only do we want to be inviting, it is our invitation to you to enter our homes, interact in community, and to let that intimacy change your life. We call our small groups here home groups. That old cliche says that “home is where the heart is”, and we hope that these homes might help reveal more of your true heart.
We work to be tuned in to the community around us. There is a value that we share at Vineyard and follow without flinching; community involvement. We throw our resources and time together as a church into this are willingly. Stick around, pick up a shovel with us, and learn about God’s heart for the Athens community.
